The demand for cybersecurity professionals is outstripping the supply of skilled workers.

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) shows the number of new cybersecurity programs has increased 33%, but the demand is growing faster as cybersecurity is now considered mission critical in most organizations.

We live in a hyper-connected world, in which absolutely everything – from banking to dating to governmental infrastructure – is done online. In today’s world, data protection is no longer optional, for either individuals or nations, making this another growing strand of computer science research.

Salary expectation in Cyber Security:-  According to CISO, the annual salary of ethical hackers averages Rs 5.7 lakh. That of Chief Information Security Officers ranges from Rs 12 lakh a year to Rs 80 lakh, with an average of Rs 23.7 lakh a year.

 Scope in cyber security in India :-

1. Network Security Engineer :- To be brief, network security jobs include safeguarding the firm's computer networks and systems. They plan and implement security measures to protect the system from cyber attacks, hacking attacks, intrusion, infiltration, and natural disasters.

2. Cyber Security Analyst :- Cyber security analysts (also called information security analysts) plan and carry out security measures to protect a company's computer networks and systems, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). They keep constant tabs on threats and monitor their organization's networks for any breaches in security.

3. Security Architect :- The security architect helps in planning, researching and designing elements of security. Without a security architect, a company’s security system is vulnerable to attacks. 

4. Cyber Security Manager :-Cyber security managers are responsible for the maintenance of security protocols throughout the organization. They also perform regular checks on all servers, switches, routers and other connected devices to make sure there are no loopholes in the security.

The average salary of a cyber security manager begins at Rs 12 lakhs per annum.

5. Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) :-The CISO is a senior-level executive within an organization that ensures that the cyber security plan is aligned with the business’s vision, operations and technologies. The CISO works with the staff to identify, develop, implement and maintain processes across the organization to ensure there are no security breaches. They respond to incidents and set up appropriate standards and controls to mitigate security risks without causing any interruption to the business. They are also responsible for overseeing the implementation of security policies and procedures within the organization.

The average salary for top CISOs is anywhere between Rs 2 crores to 4 crores.
